Early in his medical career, Dr. Wong found himself in an emergency room when a patient suddenly went into cardiac arrest. As the situation unfolded, he watched in awe as the attending physician remained composed, methodically applying his expertise in the midst of life-or-death urgency. This pivotal moment shaped Dr. Wong’s journey, inspiring him to specialize in cardiology and adopt a calm, reasoned approach to patient care, just as he had witnessed in that ER.

With nearly 30 years of experience in cardiology, Dr. Wong has built a reputation for being a compassionate and attentive physician who is deeply invested in his patients’ well-being. Known for his thoroughness, exceptional communication skills, and genuine listening, he aims to not just treat conditions but truly make a lasting impact on the lives of those he serves.

A native of New Zealand, Dr. Wong graduated from the University of Otago Dunedin Medical School. He went on to complete his internal medicine and cardiology training at the University of Hawaii and the University of Nevada, respectively, earning board certifications from the American Board of Internal Medicine. A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, he has been serving the Hawaiian community since 1994.

Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Wong is a dedicated educator, serving as a volunteer professor at the University of Hawaii’s John A. Burns School of Medicine. He teaches first-year students essential clinical skills and mentors fourth-year students during their cardiology rotations. Drawing from the wisdom of his own mentors, Dr. Wong emphasizes the importance of logical thinking, thorough medical history-taking, and a meticulous patient examination.

When he's not caring for patients or teaching the next generation of doctors, Dr. Wong enjoys spending time on the golf course, often playing twice a week with friends. His commitment to balance in both his professional and personal life is a reflection of the thoughtful and composed approach he brings to everything he does.
